Chronotopic Anamorphosis
Incredibly trippy video made by time-delaying the frames from top to bottom. The tape roll is neat but after that is mind-bending. (via kottke)

Anyways, it struck me as funny how we find these things (Xbox, Wii, playstation, etc.) so much fun when there is really NO point to doing them. There is absolutely nothing gained from playing Mario, but millions of people do it everyday. It’s just interesting I guess.
Well first of all, since when is having fun useless? Second of all many video games actually provide...

Yes, Finally! I’d like to appologize in advance to my left-mouse button; you’re in for a world of hurt buddy.
Not much to add to that.
Not sure if this is on purpose or not but the other feature being tested, removing the “post/” from permalinks, is actually already active on all sites but only acts as a forward right now. For example, http://blog.pilnick.com/39949781/phonographantasmascope-using-a-turntable-as-a redirects to http://blog.pilnick.com/post/39949781/phonographantasmascope-using-a-turntable-as-a
Notes Finally Escape from the Dashboard
I can’t seem to find the post mentioning it, but one of my long requested features looks like it’s being worked on as pointed out by Matthew Buchanan. I’m referring to having ‘notes’ display on permalink pages which you can see an example of here. While I still think it’s a great idea, I also think it needs something to prevent this. At the very least have it...

I suppose it’s time to quit the reblogging and announce this thing. I’m no scientist, but I have a strong interest in science. So, I decided to create a space to put pretty pictures and interesting links relating to science that I come over. It’s working out pretty well so far.
It’s a Tumblr group, so if you’re smart and interested, you can probably come play in it too. (If you are...

MPAA Says No Proof Needed in P2P Copyright... →
cubicle17:
This quote is from Marie L. van Uitert, an attorney for the MPAA. Please consider this the most jaw-dropping statement I’ve heard in a long time:
Mandating [proof of copyright infringement] could thus have the pernicious effect of depriving copyright owners of a practical remedy against massive copyright infringement in many instances
Translation: proving that the people we sue...

“It’s no big deal. It’s just the future of humanity.” Well, I don’t know about that, but if there was ever a meme that deserves to be spread, it’s this.
I really like the video (seriously, go watch it!) but the message it gives is kind of, for lack of a better term, half-assed. They say the solution to the world’s problems isn’t money or government or whatever but just to...
iPhone?
Ok, I’m pretty confused at this point over what the iPhone 3G will actually cost. The impression I’ve gotten so far is that the $199/$299 price tag is if you’re eligible for an upgrade or a new customer (meaning no equipment upgrade discount for existing customers out of contract like every other phone). Also, the data plan is now $30 a month and doesn’t include any text...

How to add favicons to your Firefox 3 Bookmarks... →
littletinyfish:
Again, why is this not the default?
I could be wrong, but I believe that’s not default because they were trying to behave like the default Mac browser. On PC favicons are in by default. I don’t have a Mac to check this on, but you may be able to enable them by switching “browser.chrome.favicons” to true in “about:config”.

For everyone whining about changes in the new Firefox.
(That having been said, I miss my TabMixPlus “new tab” button.)
I realize TabMixPlus did a lot more, but if the “new tab” button simply creates a new tab, just use Ctrl/Cmd+T.
For everyone whining about missing TMP, try the latest dev build. Changelog for the curious.
