An inordinate fondness for beetles.
– Evolutionary biologist J. B. S. Haldane’s reply to theologians who inquired if there was anything that could be concluded about the Creator from the study of creation. (There are more types of beetles than any other form of insect and more insects than any other kind of animal.)
Dude, I can’t talk, I’m being chased by the police.

We can’t be bothered monitoring your activities, so I’m just going to ask you. Are you building a bomb, or a futuristic battle suit that you will use to kill us?
Bomb.
…all right then.

Vimeo Comments
Just wanted to add a couple things after I read through more staff comments on the Vimeo blog.
First, like I pointed out, Vimeo is putting hosting before community, contrary to what they may say. Staff comment: “I agree that you are a community, but we are not going to cost [sic] your community’s videos on Vimeo”
Despite the comment I posted in my previous post, another staff...
Vimeo banning game videos
My 2 cents.

Tal Atlas’ rebuttal to my Vimeo defense ends with this:
I just fail to see the issues presented by gamer videos.
I’m not familiar with their particular situation, but I can guess how average gamer videos differ from average “other” videos:
They’re probably much longer.
If a video hosting site has problems with hosting long videos, they’re in the wrong business. ...

You know how no one really eats the crusts of a loaf of bread? I sure don’t. And just today, 3 days before my 26th birthday, I’ve realized that instead of lifting up the crust piece to get to proper slices everytime I go to eat bread, I could simply just throw away the crust when I open a new loaf. Not much to add to that title except that I think the video is brilliant.

Generation Kill →
Prepare to lose an hour. Here’s the first episode of Generation Kill for those of us without HBO. It’s based on Rolling Stone reporter Evan Wright’s book about his experiences as an embedded reporter with the 1st Reconnaissance Battalion during the Iraq war’s first phase in 2003 and made by the creators of The Wire.

San Francisco installs open parking space sensors →
The important bit here is that San Francisco is putting 6,000 wireless sensors throughout the city which will plug into a network that will show drivers where spaces are open. Thank goodness.
The tech sounds pretty cool too. The device, called a “bump,” is battery operated and intended to last for five to 10 years without service. From the street the bumps form a mesh of wireless Internet...

What's On Tumblr? →
After three months of being offline, I finally got my automatic radar reblogging site back up. While fixing it, I also added in support for the rest of the post types so now you get all the content in your dashboard or RSS reader.
I can’t promise it’s perfect but I’ve been fixing things pretty quickly as they pop up. I have have no currently known issues right now so please...
On top of compatibility with all previous downloadable content, another awesome feature of Rock Band 2 is that most tracks from Rock Band 1 can be ripped from the disc for use in RB2.
