Ever get an off-hand compliment that, on it’s own, doesn’t mean much but because of circumstances (ie, who said it, when it was said, what you’re feeling shitty about at the time) it means much more? I can only think of a handful of them that have really stuck with me but I got one last night that I did not expect. I know they don’t read this site but thanks again.

Chain of fools: cuffed escapees’ run in with pole
Two New Zealand prisoners who were handcuffed together as they fled a courthouse foiled their own getaway when they ran to opposite sides of a light pole, slammed into each other and fell to the ground.
The video takes a minute to start after clicking play (it will look like it’s not doing anything) but it’s oh so worth it. (via...
Well that was severely dissapointing
It’s 60 degrees out, not a cloud in the sky, plenty of wind right on the bay…and my field is closed.
I had to get in early to witness/inspect a deployment that got delayed which means I have to come in early again tomorrow. I think I’ll leave early and go fly a kite while it’s still daylight out.
The teatime deluge
Four nights a week, as one of the most popular shows in Britain ends, millions of kettles are turned on to make tea. With an ending time provided by the BBC, the national balancing engineer on-duty has to anticipate this ‘TV pickup,’ an increase of 3 gigawatts over 5 minutes, and can activate specialized hydroelectric plants that can drop thousands of tons of water...

I temporize way too much in conversation. Things that anyone else would say as fact, I will still throw a “probably” or “perhaps” on, because I know there could always be that one edge case where a meteor strikes my neighborhood and I wouldn’t after all be able to make it out that day to Thanksgiving dinner.
Check out the later pages, too.
I throw my important documents into a...

A good friend asked if I knew any network engineers looking for work in NY so I figured someone out there may fit that bill. Let me know if you’re interested (job description in the link above) and I can put you in contact.
Need some music?

I’ve added a Streampad player to the What’s on Tumblr? page. It will play all the songs that hit the radar, currently at 651 with new songs all the time, so it should keep you entertained for quite a while.
My current playlist.

I started watching 'The Fall'
But I can’t seperate that guy from Wonderfalls in my head. Especially when she hands him a small elephant.
My mom just sent me photos from when I was home for the holidays. There are 90 pictures of people and 70 of the dog. I’m surprised that we still beat the dog.
Nowhere you can be that isn’t where you’re meant to be.

I hope so.
Risk Factor: Robots vs Zombies
ponymalta:
Last night at 2:30 I was lying awake wondering if it would be better for mankind to work on creating an Isaac Asimov-style robot army (except hopefully without the defect to revolt) and risk a robot uprising in order to be prepared for a zombie apocalypse. Because robots could totally fight zombies- the zombies wouldn’t even be interested in eating them so they could just go around,...

I’m also being followed by a pack of wolves that don’t seem to have much to say for themselves either.
Wierd, I got the napstr follower last night too. I don’t have the wolves but I’m assuming it’s meant to be a joke like the...

Random story of the day. My younger sister was on a couple episodes of Sesame Street one year (I believe 1996) and got invited to the wrap party at the end of the season. I wish I got invited every year because it’s hilarious. Beyond the requisite holiday sing-alongs they show a blooper reel from the year but the higlight is that they perform skits either...
