East Bay Tumblr Meetup
letsmeetinsf:
It’s been too long since we’ve had a Bay Area meetup so I’m here to rectify that. I have it on good authority from Cory that the Missouri Lounge in Berkeley is a perfect meet-up spot so the plan is to meet there on April 25th.
If you’re in the Bay Area, please reblog this to spread the word and so we can get a feel for how much interest we’ve got. Nothing is set in stone yet so if...
Books
As my collection is growing, I figured I may want to catalog all my books so I’ve been looking at different book cataloging sites. The three candidates I’ve found are GoodReads, LibraryThing, and Shelfari.
It seems GoodReads has the biggest community as I know several people with accounts there so I’ve been trying it out. Every time I play with it though, I always get annoyed...

Italy convicts crash pilot who paused to pray →
A Tunisian pilot who paused to pray instead of taking emergency measures before crash-landing his plane, killing 16 people, has been sentenced to 10 years in jail by an Italian court along with his co-pilot.
A fuel-gauge malfunction was partly to blame but prosecutors also said the pilot succumbed to panic, praying out loud instead of following emergency procedures and then opting to crash-land...

Even beyond the impressive photos themselves is how they were generated without the use of a high-speed camera.
My friend Joe was on BBC News as a so-called ‘expert.’ Nice.
This is not going to be for everyone, but this video shows a french craftsman hand-making a vacuum tube entirely from scratch. It is 15 minutes long, but it’s worth it. I have no idea what’s going on in the last couple minutes though after he’s done.
One of these days I'm going to count how many...
At work I will type my password up to several dozen times a day depending on what I happen to be working on. Besides unlocking my computer all the time (we’re required by company policy to lock our computers if we leave our desk) there are so many different systems you end up using at a company this large. And because of the security required, login sessions don’t last long requiring...

I think its time I introduced tumblr to 4playerpodcast. I think I’ll post a vid or two a day and then get to the details after. This is one of the all time great clips from 4pp. Just a vid of the guys playing Condemmed 2 and meeting.. the bear. Might want to watch the volume at some point, since they do tend to scream/yell.
Oh god, I forgot completely about the bear...
