I’m not logged in at all (I had actually just cleared all my cookies) and it lets me right in.  Odd.  Anyways, you can always use BugMeNot.  If you’re on Firefox just install the extension and you can login in with an option on the right-click menu.
Update: The article isn’t that great anyways.  Basically he shifted 80% of his communications to social networking sites therefore making it more inconvenient for everyone else.
