So AT&T/Apple have finally lifted the veil on most of the pricing issues surrounding the iPhone 3G and it looks like everything I said here turned out correct. To summarize, the advertised price is the discounted upgrade price (which is really odd since it’s also the new subscriber price) and the data plan doesn’t include text messages. (I still don’t know if they’ll allow corporate discounts though.) So if anyone tells you the new iPhone is cheaper, they’re deluded.
EDIT: Customer service says “We do not think that you will be able to use any corporate discount with the iPhone or the iPhone plans.”
