In my physical therapy this morning, they had me on a trampoline. I only just now realized the irony.
I did however notice that the only magazines in the waiting room are all Sports Illustrated. Bastards.

GPOYW Post-Surgery Beardo Edition. This is the screw that was in my ankle for a few months until a week and a half ago. I feel like I must save it until I build a house or something then ceremoniously use it in the construction.
Here’s a question to Tumblrs though. The beard is just over two weeks of growth since shaving of the ‘stache that I refused to wear to work and it’s time to decide what I’m doing with it. Should I go back to my normal goatee or keep the beard, which will look more like this old photo in another week, for the winter? Drop your suggestion in a reblog or in the comments.
I wore two shoes.
The last few weeks I’ve been making a lot of progress. I’ve been driving for the last 3 weeks and I’ve been off crutches for a week or so but had a big walking boot. Yesterday, I upgraded to an ankle brace and had to remember where I put all my right shoes. Upcoming ‘big’ firsts in the next few days are wearing pants (there goes my excuse to wear shorts to work) and taking a shower (I’m so sick of baths).
Yeah that’s a pretty large screw that’s holding my ankle together. Those four smaller screws (here’s a better angle) are permanent. For fun, compare the position of the tibia (the larger bone) in this photo to the one before surgery. The fibula isn’t looking so hot in that one either.
You know when you’re removing a staple from a stack of papers and it gets kinda stuck and you have to wiggle it around a bunch to get it out? Yeah, that happens with surgical staples too. Ow.
You learn a lot of things when you break your ankle. One thing you learn quickly is what in your apartment doesn’t support your weight.
I don’t often put personal updates in this space but I figured I’d let everyone know why there haven’t been any updates and why that may continue for a little while. From Saturday night to Wednesday afternoon I was in the hospital for a fractured and dislocated ankle and various complications. I had surgery on Sunday and will be on crutches and a wheelchair for about 6 weeks. Besides obviously being disconnected for four days, my computer is in my loft which means stairs so I probably won’t be on here much. Hang in there and regular updates will be back soon. Thanks.
