Here’s a GPOYW for you from a Yelp Elite event I went to this past Friday in Berkeley. Despite it looking fake, this was not only real but unplanned. If not for the small amount of boat sticking out of my head this would be the perfect photo. (By the way, it was prom themed.)

They're waving from the top of this part

First sight of the cables

This looks photoshopped.

Ashley and I about 1/4 up.

Fuck you, I'm an anteater.

This past weekend was camping in Yosemite and hiking Half Dome. The hike is about 17 miles roundtrip with an elevation change of about 4,800 feet. The most insane part is climbing a pair of cables up a near vertical rock face to reach the summit (go google ‘half-dome cables,’ it’s insane) but even just to get to there is an incredible amount of stone steps and stuff leaning towards climbing rather than hiking.

Since this site has been pretty barren, I figure I’ll at least share a bit of what RealLifeTM stuff has been taking my time. First up was a pretty epic trip to Lake Don Pedro. We had 23 or so people on a 70’ houseboat complete with waterslide, hottub, and grill. We also had a towboat and a….regular boat (no idea what else to call it, it’s the brown one) for wakeboarding and tubing. We were supposed to have a jetski also but it broke last minute. At some point I’ll have to upload some of the videos we took, including POV down the waterslide thanks to a waterproof camera.
As a consolation, here is a GPOYW from a party a week and a half ago. The theme was movie/comic/videogame heroes. I went as Ash from Evil Dead and Candice went as Lara Croft from Tomb Raider. Best part of my costume? The chainsaw worked!* Also awesome was that my entire costume was under $50, half of which was buying the chainsaw. Half of the rest was buying the airsoft shotgun. The cut-up bomber jacket, two belts, corduroy pants and can of spray paint covered the rest.
*Worked as in it made noise and the ‘chain’ shook back and forth.
That actually just reminded me that I never posted this other photo I really like. This was at BFD a few weeks ago which coincided with Swedish Independence Day. The guards wouldn’t allow Jasmina to bring in the wooden flagpole because it could be used as a weapon (suuuure) so we made our own once inside. We also ended up with a bonus Canadian flag.
GPOYW: Another photo from the ABC Party. I really like this picture other than the huge shadow/finger. It helps that Jasmina is actually looking normal for once.
I turned 25 on Friday so a friend threw me a party Saturday night and picked the theme, “Anything but Clothes.” People’s costumes were fantastic, including tailored shower curtains, newspapers, books, sheets, balloons, etc. I spent about six hours (way longer than I expected) making a pair of duct tape shorts, complete with belt loops, pocket, and working fly. The party was absolutely rocking, figuratively and literally as my friend’s band, Dr. Taco, played.
Overall, I could not have planned a better weekend to start my 25th year.
There were so many photos taken this past weekend so I’m going to share one from each night for today’s GPOYW. This is from the SF meetup Thursday night, taken by Tiff.
