Ok, now that we’ve set a baseline, look at that Porsche Panamera again. What the hell is wrong with you Porsche? My Camry is better looking than this. The Panemera’s single redeeming quality is this neat dual-action spoiler.
Maserati only has two models available, the GranTurismo, shown, and the Quattroporte which translates literally as “four doors.” They’re not subtle nor do they have to be.
And the third reason Aston Martin gets excused is the One-77. So what if they’re only making 77 of them and will cost nearly $2m? It’s gorgeous and they’re actually trying something new.
I will admit that Aston Martin does have a bit of the same problem as Porche in that they all look similar (this is the DB9, could you tell?) but Aston gets excused for several reasons. First, they’re not trying to mangle the design into an SUV or four-door salon (I know, I know. I’m trying to pretend the the Rapide doesn’t exist, don’t remind me). Second, Aston could make just one car and it wouldn’t matter, it’s just that hot.
Screw it, I’m just posting beautiful cars now. Is the Ferrari California not the sexiest convertible you’ve ever seen?
Both Ferarri and Porsche only have four current models (the Cayman is based on the Boxter so it doesn’t count) yet look at what Ferrari does. The 599 still maintains their signature look without having a hint of copy/paste syndrome.
Porsche Dilutes the Brand. Again
It’s been said before but there’s a difference between consistency and copy/pasting.
